Privacy Policy

1. Overview

speed. is designed as a privacy-focused driving cockpit. Trip traces and driving analysis are processed and stored on your device. They are not uploaded to the speed. website or gate community by the app.

This policy distinguishes between information handled locally by the app and limited information processed by service providers for purchases, website delivery, authentication, and voluntary community publishing.

2. Information handled by the app

Location and motion

When you grant permission, the app uses precise location, speed, course, timestamps, and motion or vehicle-activity signals to display driving information, detect directional gates, record trips, support automatic sessions, and generate receipts and technical reports.

Location permission may be used in the background when you enable automatic sessions or continue an active trip. Motion & Fitness information is used to detect automotive activity. These records remain on your device unless you deliberately export or share a receipt or gate file.

Trip records

Saved trips can include timestamps, route coordinates, distance, speed statistics, checked-zone results, Roundtrip measurements, detected turns, resolved start or end addresses, and a vehicle name or plate that you choose to associate. Vehicle details stay on the device unless you deliberately export or share a vehicle report. You can delete the complete trip history from the app’s Settings.

Notifications and Live Activities

If authorized, the app uses local notifications and Live Activities for session status and optional alerts. To start a Live Activity after automatic driving detection in the background, the app sends the speed. backend an opaque, rotating ActivityKit token, a random session identifier, and the initial values shown by the cockpit. It does not send route coordinates or trip traces for this purpose. The backend forwards the start event to Apple Push Notification service and retains only ordinary short-lived operational logs. Notification and Live Activity presentation is controlled by iOS.

3. Purchases and speed. Pro

Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. speed. uses RevenueCat to validate products, subscription status, lifetime purchases, restoration, and entitlements.

Apple and RevenueCat may process purchase history, product identifiers, entitlement status, an anonymous app user identifier, app and device information, storefront information, and technical diagnostics. speed. does not receive your complete payment-card details. Their handling is governed by their respective privacy policies.

4. Website browsing

You can browse the website, build gate files locally in your browser, download public community packs, and export JSON or CSV without creating an account.

Vercel hosts the website and may process ordinary technical request information such as IP address, browser and device details, requested pages, timestamps, security signals, and server logs to deliver, protect, and operate the service.

5. Sign in with Apple and community publishing

Sign in with Apple is required only when publishing a gate pack. Depending on your Apple choices, authentication may provide a stable Apple subject identifier, relay or regular email address, and name. Apple normally provides name and email only on the first authorization.

Authentication uses an encrypted, signed session token. The website does not intentionally retain your Apple password or payment information.

When you publish, the gate pack and information you submit for public display become publicly accessible and downloadable. A private consent receipt is also stored for audit and moderation. It contains the pack identifier, stable Apple subject identifier, accepted Community Publishing Terms version, and acceptance timestamp.

Do not include personal information, private locations, or other sensitive content in a public gate-pack name or description.

6. Cookies and local storage

The website uses essential authentication and security mechanisms needed to maintain signed-in sessions and protect publishing actions. It does not intentionally use third-party advertising cookies or cross-app behavioral tracking.

Your browser may also retain gate-builder input temporarily as part of normal browser behavior. You can clear browser data through your browser settings.

7. Purposes and legal grounds

Information is processed only as needed to provide requested app and website functionality, validate purchases, secure the service, authenticate publishers, maintain publishing-consent records, respond to support requests, comply with legal obligations, and protect users or the service from abuse.

Where applicable, processing relies on performance of a requested service, your consent, compliance with legal obligations, and legitimate interests in operating and securing the service.

8. Service providers and disclosure

Limited information may be handled by:

• Apple for App Store purchases, refunds, Sign in with Apple, notifications, and platform services.
• RevenueCat for purchase and entitlement management.
• Vercel for website hosting, server execution, security logs, and Blob storage.

Information may also be disclosed when required by law, to investigate abuse or security incidents, to protect legal rights and safety, or as part of a business transfer subject to appropriate safeguards. Personal information is not sold for money, and speed. does not use it for third-party targeted advertising.

9. Retention

App trip history remains on your device until you delete it, remove the app, or iOS removes its data. Purchase and entitlement records are retained by Apple and RevenueCat according to their policies and applicable obligations.

Public gate packs may remain available until removed. Private publishing-consent records and security logs are retained as reasonably necessary for audit, moderation, dispute handling, abuse prevention, and legal compliance. Support correspondence is retained only as long as reasonably needed to resolve the request and meet applicable obligations.

10. Your choices and rights

You can control Location, Motion & Fitness, notifications, Live Activities, and background permissions in iOS Settings. You can disable automatic sessions, delete trip history, stop using Sign in with Apple, or revoke the website’s Apple authorization through your Apple Account settings.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, or withdrawal of consent, and to complain to a data-protection authority. To submit a privacy request, email support@speed.app. Verification may be required to protect your information.

11. International processing and security

Service providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, appropriate transfer safeguards are used by those providers.

Reasonable technical and organizational measures are used to protect information, but no network, storage system, or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.

12. Children

speed. is not directed to children under 13, or the higher minimum age required in their jurisdiction. The service does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information.

13. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as the app, website, service providers, or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top identifies the current version. Material changes will be communicated when required.
